This season the Colorado High School Activities Association has added a 2A classification for boys golf and will be holding a 2A Boys Golf State Championship for the first time. This new championship opens up new opportunities for programs all across the state, like Monte Vista and Vail Mountain.

Four years ago, David Vahling knew that he had something special when he met his first freshman class as Rock Canyon’s head boys golf coach.

A pair of Evergreen juniors, Liam Houlihan and Tyler Long, finished tied for second with 1-under 141s to lead the Cougars to the 4A Boys Golf State Championship at The Bridges Golf & Country Club Tuesday afternoon, marking Evergreen’s first boys golf state title in school history.
