After day one of the 2022 5A boys tennis individual tournament, the machine that is Cherry Creek rolled along.

The semifinals of the team state tournament are set, regionals have concluded, and the individual state draws have been released. It’s the middle of October which means that the 2022 boys tennis season is nearing its conclusion. Both team and individual titles will be claimed in the next week, and it’s feels like the most recent results throughout the state are a sign of things tightening up as teams reach the home stretch.

The first round of the CHSAA boys tennis team tournament is over, and while there were some expected romps from the favorites, there were some amazing contests, as well thrillers, from start to finish. It was an exciting day for the kids to participate in this inaugural event, and now that the 1st round jitters are out of the way, it’s on to the quarterfinals on Saturday where the matches will only get more intense from here.

After a fast and furious regular season of boys tennis, the postseason has arrived with plenty of intrigue and excitement surrounding the new team state tournament. The committee selected the best 16 schools from each classification to compete in a single-elimination, dual-style format in order to crown the new team state champion.
