PUEBLO – Alongside the palpable excitement of the team race, which ended in the first tie between Kent Denver and Cheyenne Mountain since 1999, there were three individual champions and four doubles champions crowned on the final day of the 4A boys tennis state championships Saturday afternoon, Oct. 16, at the Pueblo City Park Tennis Complex.
PUEBLO – The battle for the 2021 4A boys tennis state championship has become a two-horse race after day two of competition at the Pueblo City Park Tennis Complex, and it is two teams that no one should be surprised by.
DENVER – The Cherry Creek boys tennis team has won 43 team championships, which means just about every year there has to be at least one team that’s trying to give the Bruins a run for their money on the final day of the state tournament.

Cheyenne Mountain will contend for the Class 4A boys tennis team championship with four positions in finals. Air Academy also has a doubles team playing for a title on Saturday.
PUEBLO – Aswaanth Karuppasamy took his share of lumps when he was thrust into playing No. 1 singles as a freshman during an unusual and trying 2020 season.
When looking around the tennis courts at the 2021 4A boys tennis championships, spectators saw the usual team colors of Cheyenne Mountain maroon and Kent Denver red and blue. However, there was a new team color added to the spectrum sported by three people.
PUEBLO – After a full first day at the 4A boys tennis state championships, held at the Pueblo City Park Tennis Complex, the team race is shaping up to be a dandy.
Knowing the teams would be spread around the southern Denver area, Art Quinn, head coach of defending champion Cherry Creek, told his players to prepare as they would normally.
Pine Creek grabbed a pair of wins in the first round of the Class 5A boys tennis state tournament while Doherty’s Vaughn Bigss suffered a tough first round loss.
