When Luis Corona took control of the Sierra Grande 6-man football program prior to the 2018 season, after serving as an assistant coach, he inherited a squad that had back-to-back winning seasons under former head coach Matt Lucero. It was a program that had momentum to continue to build upon the success and reach some new heights.

When Jared Yannacito took over as Golden’s head coach prior to the 2017 season, the Demons hadn’t been to the playoffs since 2002. The year prior to his arrival, they went 1-9 and got outscored 327-74.

After 24 years as a Fort Morgan coach and administrator, first year Weld Central head football coach Harrison Chisum caught the coaching bug once again. And he has the Rebel football team back on track.

There are few better ways for a head coach to make his debut for a new program than what Tom Doherty and his Grandview Wolves did in their season opening win on Thursday, Aug. 26.
