Races to be Recalled in First 50 Meters in High School Track and Field When Contact Occurs Between Competitors

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 9, 2024) — Effective with the 2025 season, races in high school track and field will be recalled in the first 50 meters when a competitor falls due to contact with another competitor. This change, which was one of eight revisions recommended by the NFHS Track and Field and Cross Country Rules Committee at its June 10-12 meeting in Indianapolis, relates to races not run in lanes, or when two or more competitors are assigned to a single lane.

De Beque’s Scottie Vines Named Gatorade Colorado Boys Track & Field Player of the Year

CHICAGO (June 27, 2024) — In its 39th year of honoring the nation’s most elite high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Scottie Vines of De Beque High School is the 2023-24 Gatorade Colorado Boys Track & Field Player of the Year. Vines is the first Gatorade Colorado Boys Track & Field Player of the Year to be chosen from De Beque High School.
