INDIANAPOLIS, IN — High school girls lacrosse games will now be played in 12-minute quarters instead of two halves, and a player awarded a free position after being fouled outside the critical scoring area no longer has to stop completely before continuing the course of play.
INDIANAPOLIS – The use of a one-way communication device between a coach in the dugout and a team’s catcher for the purposes of calling pitches will be permitted in high school baseball beginning in 2024.
AURORA – Eaton High School shortstop Walker Martin was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the second round of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft Sunday night. The 52nd pick overall, Martin becomes the 10th-highest pick straight out of a Colorado high school in state history, and the highest since the Baltimore Orioles took Cherry Creek outfielder Darnell McDonald at No. 26 in 1997.
CHICAGO — In its 38th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Kate Runyon of Jefferson Academy is the 2022-23 Gatorade Colorado Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Runyon is the first Gatorade Colorado Girls Soccer Player of the Year to be chosen from Jefferson Academy.

GREELEY – After having to wait nearly 31 hours to resume its Class 3A baseball title game against longtime rival University, Eaton chose to wait no longer.
PUEBLO — Despite a venue change and playing five hours later than originally scheduled, Severance and Golden both came to play in the Class 4A state baseball championship game Saturday at Rawlings Field on the campus at CSU-Pueblo.
AURORA – The 3A baseball tournament championship game between No. 1 seed Eaton and No. 2 seed University was put into a weather delay in the middle of the second inning on Saturday due to heavy rain. The game will resume at the top of the second inning with University up, 2-1.
PUEBLO – What the leaden skies never delivered, the Denver Christian bats did. There was more Thunder in the first two innings than a late Limon rally would be able to overcome.
LAKEWOOD – After Zach Eigenbrod fired the final out, he was dog-piled by his teammates as Valor Christian celebrated its first Class 5A state baseball championship and capped a miraculous playoff run.
