The excitement in Hamilton Gym at the University of Denver was high for Friday’s Final Four round that saw two games decided by a total of nine points. Up first was a rematch of a Great 8 showdown from last year between the No. 2 seed Sterling Tigers and the No. 3 seed Aspen Skiers. Late in the evening, an instant classic was played between the No. 1 seed St. Mary’s Pirates and the No. 5 seed Centauri Falcons.
GREELEY – The 1A boys basketball semifinals took place Friday evening inside the University of Northern Colorado’s Bank of Colorado Arena. Merino and McClave advanced to the championship game by defeating Granada and Sierra Grande, respectively. The two will play in the 1A boys basketball championship game at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland.
Friday’s Class 5A Final Four matchup between the ThunderRidge and Denver East boys basketball teams more than lived up to its potential for a stunning display of high-level basketball and an epic finish.
Lewis-Palmer and Pueblo South advanced through the semifinals and will meet for the Class 4A boys basketball state championship at the Denver Coliseum.
LOVELAND – A year removed from losing in the Class 2A boys state championship game, the Limon Badgers are one win away from an opportunity to redeem themselves.
