After an upset of Sterling, Lutheran advanced to the Class 3A boys basketball championship game where it will face Bayfield. Tri-Peaks rivals Colorado Springs Christian and St. Mary’s will meet in the girls title game.
The Lamar girls saved their best surprise for after the game on Thursday night, running to the bench and grabbing a few makeshift signs to celebrate coach Erik Melgoza’s 200th win.
The 2017-18 all-state wrestling teams are led by wrestlers of the year in each of the four classifications, and honor the top athletes in the sport.
The Class 3A state basketball brackets were released on Sunday, with Kent Denver (girls) and Sterling (boys) earning the top seeds.
Another chapter has been added to the legacy of Alamosa’s wrestling program.
