CHSAA hires Zach Segars as Assistant Director of Communications

AURORA – The Colorado High School Activities Association is pleased to announce the hiring of Zach Segars as the Assistant Director of Communications. Segars comes to CHSAA from Mile High Sports where he was a Senior Sportswriter and Editor for the last five years.

“We are extremely excited to have Zach join the CHSAA staff,” Director of Communications Amanda McClure said. “Not only will he fit in seamlessly with the staff, but his experiences working in the fast-paced world of sports with an ever-changing workload will have prepared him for the tasks ahead. I look forward to us working together to streamline some processes within the communications department and find various ways to tell CHSAA’s story!”

In his five years with Mile High Sports, Segars became the most-read digital writer in the history of MileHighSports.com, as his 1,200 published articles garnered more than 1 million views. Not only did he write daily articles, providing team analytics, timely game coverage and behind-the-scenes reports on the Denver Broncos, but he also trained, managed and edited the work of a team of five freelance sports journalists. He also developed, produced and co-hosted the Let’s Talk Broncos daily podcast and web show.

On game days, Segars represented Mile High Sports in the media press box at both Broncos and Colorado Buffaloes games, team events and press conferences. He conducted post-game locker room interviews with players, coaches and front office members, and built relationships with key stakeholders.

Starting out as a magazine intern at Mile High Sports, Segars developed regular and timely articles, while also covering, interactive with and interviewing high school, college and professional teams and athletes across a wide range of sports.

A 2022 graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder, Segars earned his degree in journalism, with a minor in sports media, from the University’s College of Media, Communication and Information.
