    (Jack Eberhard/JacksActionShots.com)

Cherry Creek has hired Clint Evans, a successful coach in Kansas, to be its next girls basketball coach.

Bruins athletic director Jason Wilkins announced the hire on Monday.

Evans comes to Cherry Creek from Olathe East, one of the largest schools in Kansas. The Hawks advanced to the state’s Class 6A title game last season as part of a 24-1 campaign.

Evans’ teams were 127-58 in his eight seasons as coach.

At Cherry Creek, Evans will take over for longtime head Chris Curneen, who retired after seven seasons in March.

The Bruins return quite a lot of contributors for next season, including Stanford commit Jana Van Gytenbeek, who averaged 16.4 points, 7.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in 2017-18. She was named first team all-state after the season.
