GOLDEN — Evergreen and Valor Christian boys golf programs got off to a solid start to start the Jeffco League tournament season Wednesday at Applewood Golf Course.
Evergreen — two-time defending Class 4A Jeffco League team champions — posted a team score of 292. Golden finished second with 316 and Green Mountain placed third at 318. The individual race was much tighter. Four golfers tied for first place with all shooting a 1-over-par, 72.

Golden senior Jacob Dehm joined a trio of Evergreen golfers to finish in a four-way tie. Evergreen juniors Luke Sabina, Liam Houlihan and Lincoln Mackay all fired round of 72 in the first of six Jeffco League tournaments of the Fall 2023 season.
Valor edged Columbine first place in the Class 5A side. The Eagles shot a 287 with the Rebels finishing second with a 298. Valor senior Ethan Rainey and sophomore Campbell McFadden both shot 1-under-par, 70. Valor junior Ian O’Fallon and Columbine senior Matai Naqica were one stroke back with rounds of 71.
Ralston Valley senior Grayson Miller rounded out the top-5 with a round of 72.
The next Jeffco League tournament is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 14, at Broken Tee Golf Course in Littleton.
