  • Longmont’s Leif Nuesken goes the distance in top-10 win over Roosevelt

Longmont senior Leif Nuesken allowed just four hits over seven innings in helping his seventh-ranked Trojans edge No. 5 Roosevelt in a top-10 Class 4A baseball matchup on Tuesday.

Nuesken struck out five batters, and allowed just two walks in the pitcher’s duel, which saw Roosevelt senior Tyler Crook toss six innings of five-hit baseball.

The difference in the game was a first-inning run for Longmont, provided by an RBI from sophomore Devon Nowells which plated Grant Rulon.

Longmont is now 7-3 this season, and has won four consecutive games.

    Roosevelt, meanwhile, is now 8-3.

  • All-state football teams for the 2018 season

The 2018 all-state football teams are presented by CHSAANow.com, ColoradoPreps.com and MaxPreps.

These teams were created following a lengthy process which included nominations from leagues, and then a vote of head coaches across the state.

Players were placed onto the first-team, second-team and honorable mention based upon the number of votes they received. In 5A-1A, spots were reserved for linemen and one kicker/punter, while 8-man reserved spots for linemen.

CHSAA does not determine who makes or doesn’t make the team; they are created from the results of the coaches’ vote.
