14 football teams have traveled the Road to Pueblo this season.

This coming Championship Weekend, the 2020 state football championships will be contested at CSU Pueblo.

Dakota Ridge (Class 4A Jeffco League champs) and Pomona (Class 5A Jeffco League champs) opened up the football postseason with impressive offensive performances. The victories moved the Eagles and Panthers into the state semifinals for the second straight season. Chatfield’s football team rallied in the second half to grab a season-ending victory over Green Mountain. Ralston Valley rolled to a win over rival Arvada West at the NAAC. We also give a look at the renovations made at Trailblazer Stadium.

We’ve got highlights from four games — Columbine vs Arvada West, Pomona vs Lakewood, Central of Grand Junction vs Dakota Ridge and Wheat Ridge vs Chatfield — from the first few weeks of the 6-game regular season. Boys tennis season wrapped up with Lakewood and Ralston Valley having good showings at the Class 5A state tournament at Gates Tennis Center in Denver. Cross country season also concluded with the Jeffco League Championships that led into the state meet held in Colorado Springs.

In the first edition of the 2020-21 prep sports season, we dive into softball action with the Dave Sanders Invitational along with Green Mountain and Wheat Ridge facing off in a Class 4A Jeffco League showdown. The 5A Jeffco boys golf season was entertaining with several top golfers in the state competing during the five league tournament schedule. D’Evelyn boys tennis made a good run at its regional tournament at Colorado Academy. Arvada West cross country team hosted the Durden Invitational that featured Dakota Ridge senior Jacob White as he makes another push toward a top finish at the state tournament coming up in mid-October.

Cherry Creek and Regis Jesuit boys tennis were the top two teams at the 2019 Class 5A boys tennis state championships. The two programs squared off in a dual meet on Monday.

Commissioner Rhonda Blanford-Green took questions from CHSAA’s student leadership community as part of their virtual student leadership conference, held on Wednesday.

Questions ranged from her heroes growing up to the impact of COVID-19 to the movement for social and racial justice.

In the age of COVID-19, our hats are off to the many seniors who have shown maturity and resolve as a worldwide pandemic has impacted their culminating year of high school — athletics, activities, proms, graduations, and beyond.

To the Class of 2020: You will not be forgotten.

We are disappointed that this year’s State Speech and Debate Tournament was cancelled. However, we are pleased to present coaching awards to two very deserving Speech and Debate coaches.

We are honored to present the Sharon Wilch Lifetime Achievement Award and the NFHS Section 6 Speech, Debate and Theatre Educator of the Year Award.

The Be The Light, Colorado movement is entering its fourth week as dozens of schools around the state seek to be a beacon of hope for their students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last week, dozens of schools joined and continued the Be The Light, Colorado movement, as they sought to be a beacon of hope for their students during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to physically lighting stadiums, arenas, pools and theaters, schools and districts are asking that their communities, as one district put it, “be the light to someone every day during these difficult times.”
