PARKER — Keelyn Osoba and Jamie Tatum scored for Rock Canyon as the Jaguars beat Legend 2-0 in girls soccer on Tuesday.

ThunderRidge stayed inside its football family when naming a new coach.
Grizzlies athletic director Sean Patterson announced on Tuesday morning that it had hired Doug Nisenson as its new football coach.
A former Grizzlies player, he coached in Arizona and North Carolina before returning to become an assistant at ThunderRidge in 2013. Last season, Nisenson was the defensive coordinator.
“Doug’s passion, enthusiasm, and commitment will spill over to his players, coaches, and ThunderRidge community,” Patterson said.
Nisenson played at ThunderRidge from 2002-05, and was part of Class 4A championship teams in 2004 and 2005. The Grizzlies went undefeated in 2005.
Nisenson replaces Joe Johnson, who accepted the job at Cherokee Trail in February.

CHSAA commissioner Paul Angelico was honored with the Special Award of Distinction by the Colorado High School Coaches Association on Saturday.
Angelico is just the second recipient of the award in CHSCA’s history. It is given to “a special individual who has done a remarkable job of leadership and service.”
“Throughout my career, I have been honored to received a number of awards,” Angelico said. “But none is more meaningful than one that comes from the coaches, because coaching is what we’re all about. It doesn’t get any better than this.”
Angelico is set to retire this school year following more than 40 years in education. He has worked at CHSAA since 1990.
In its program, CHSCA wrote:
We are recognizing him for establishing and strengthening the relationship between the Colorado High School Coaches Association and the Colorado High School Activities Association. He has been a leader in building character, advocating for the role of coaches, and creating partnerships. He has done an outstanding job of uniting our two organizations to better high school activities for all of our constituents. Our Association and our coaches are extremely grateful for the work and foundations that Paul has helped to build.
Angelico was also given the Lloyd Gaskill Award by CHSCA at its banquet on Saturday.
The award is given to an individual (other than coaches and athletic directors) who have given support to Colorado high school activities in ways other than coaching. Former CHSAA commissioner Bob Ottewill won the award last year.
CHSCA also inducted its 2017 Hall of Fame class on Saturday with four new members: Chaparral’s T.R. Ellis, Fowler’s Greg Fruhwirth, North Park’s Randy Hodgson, Overland’s Tony Manfredi, and The Classical Academy’s Alan Versaw.

A couple of wins over Mountain View has put the spotlight on Longmont baseball. The undefeated Trojans head into spring break as the new No. 1 team in the Class 4A CHSAANow.com baseball rankings.
And they earned it.
On consecutive days last week, Longmont posted 6-3 and 3-1 wins over then No. 2 Mountain View, who fell to No. 7 this week.
Valor Christian slipped one spot to come in at No. 2.
Evergreen bettered their position by three spots to land at No. 5 while Silver Creek jump two spots to take over at No. 8.
No new teams broke into the 4A poll this week.

(Dan Mohrmann/CHSAANow.com)
The 3A poll also saw a fresh face in the top spot. After coming away with a couple of wins at their own tournament, Lamar lands at the No. 1 spot formerly held by Faith Christian.
The defending 3A champs only dropped one spot to No. 2.
Lutheran stormed its way into the 3A rankings, coming in at No. 4 despite not ranked in last week’s poll. The Lions are the only newcomers in 3A.
Colorado Academy is right behind at No. 5, two spots better than a week ago.
In 5A, Rocky Mountain hangs onto its top spot, but the always dangerous Cherry Creek Bruins jumped two spots to take over at No 2.
Legend breaks into the top five by making a three-spot jump from last week’s poll.
At No. 10, Broomfield is the only new team in the 5A poll.
Haxtun has shown it should be a team to keep an eye on, landing at No. 3 in this week’s 2A poll. That’s a staggering six spots better than a week ago.
Paonia is still securely in the No. 1 spot in those rankings.
Calhan and Holyoke are the two new teams to break into the 2A rankings, coming in at No. 9 and No. 10 respectively.
Only one new face made an appearance in this week’s 1A poll as Cotopaxi takes the No. 8 spot this week.
Holly remains the top team in the 1A rankings and it was Dove Creek who made the big jump of the week to land three spots better at No. 7.
The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association.
During the regular season, new polls are released each Monday.

It may not look like there was a lot of change in the CHSAANow.com girls lacrosse rankings, but up closer inspection quite a bit changed from a week ago.
Sure no new teams broke into the top 10 this week, but the overall makeup of the poll is drastically different from the previous poll.
And the big change is very close to the top.
Colorado Academy is still No. 1 in the rankings, but it’s Columbine who now sits behind them at No. 2.
Cherry Creek, who held that No. 2 spot last week, drops to No. 4 with Kent Denver still firmly sitting at No. 3.
Denver East jumped one spot to No. 5 and Dakota Ridge got the attention of the voters to climb three spots to No. 6.
Chaparral (No. 7) and ThunderRidge (No. 8) maintained their positions from last week’s rankings. Mullen dropped to No. 9 and Pine Creek remained at No. 10.
The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association.
During the regular season, polls are announced each Monday.

Dakota Ridge is making moves.
The Eagles joined the Class 5A CHSAANow.com boys lacrosse rankings Monday, taking the No. 10 spot.
But judging by their record, their climb is far from over. They remain undefeated heading into spring break and will see Lakewood and Boulder before a showdown with No. 4 Columbine.
The only new team in the 5A, poll Dakota Ridge is off until April 7.
Regis Jesuit took every first-place vote to remain the undisputed No. 1 team in the state.
Thanks to a win over No. 5 Arapahoe, Cherry Creek jumped one spot to take over at No. 2.
Mountain Vista also jumped one spot from last week to come in at No. 3.
A week off didn’t hurt Dawson as it was able to hold on to the No. 1 spot in the 4A poll. Valor Christian also held its spot at No. 2 despite a tough 8-6 loss to 5A’s Lewis-Palmer on Wednesday.
Thompson Valley (No. 4) and Thomas Jefferson (No. 8) are both two spots better than they were in last week’s poll.
At No. 10, Windsor is the only new team to break into the 4A rankings.
The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association.
During the regular season, new polls are released each Monday.

The mass shakeup of the Class 5A CHSAANow.com girls soccer poll was not a one-week thing.
Following last week’s crazy shuffle of top-10 teams, this week is once again in disarray.
Broomfield takes over as the new No. 1 team thanks a 1-0 win over Monarch last week. The Eagles were the No. 2 team in last week’s rankings.
Cherry Creek jumped three spots to come in at No. 2 while Regis Jesuit (No. 3) and Legacy (No. 4) each jumped four spots.
And then things get crazy.
Cherokee Trail falls to No. 5 and Mountain Vista — despite not playing a game — falls three spots to No. 6.
Two newcomers in Chaparral and Arapahoe fall in at No. 7 and No. 8 respectively while Grandview jumps one spot to land at No. 9.
Columbine, last week’s No. 1, remained in the top 10, but fell all the way to No. 10.
The 4A poll remained a little more consistent.
Valor Christian still holds the top spot, but it was The Classical Academy who climbed six spots to take over at No. 2.
Mullen (No. 4), Wheat Ridge (No. 5) and D’Evelyn (No. 6) are all one spot better than they were a week ago.
An injury-plagued Cheyenne Mountain team went 2-0 last week, but dropped to No. 8.
There were no new teams in the 4A poll.
Kent Denver took seven of nine first-place votes to remain the No. 1 team in the 3A poll.
Overall, the top five teams from last week’s 3A rankings went unchanged. The only new team, Colorado Springs Christian, comes in at No. 8, one spot behind Tri-Peaks rival Manitou Springs.
The most consistent poll of the week goes to 2A. Dawson took all six top votes to stay at No. 1 with Fountain Valley (No. 2), Denver Christian (No. 3) and Evangelical Christian (No. 4) also holding firm from last week.
Telluride is the only new team in the poll, rounding it out at No. 5.
The rankings, voted upon by coaches and select media members, are the official polls of the Association.
New polls are released each Monday during the regular season.

Niwot on Monday announced that it has hired Daisha Agho as its new volleyball coach.
Agho has spent the past eight seasons as the coach at Berthoud, where she has compiled a 94-89 record, including 57-24 over the past three years.
Agho’s teams have gone to the Class 4A state tournament for three consecutive seasons.
“With coach Agho, we are not only getting a coach, but we are also getting a mentor for young women,” Niwot athletic director Chase McBride said in a statement. “The relationships she has developed with her athletes have been the backbone of her success. (With her) winning Tri Valley coach of the year, three-time regional champion, and recent state tournament experiences, coach Agho is the type of fit for our program that we feel can take us to the next level.
“We have an extremely talented and experienced group of girls coming back to the program, and we are thrilled to have coach Agho at the head of our program.”
She takes over a Niwot program that has had a lot of recent success under Preston Brown. Since 2013, Niwot is 67-37, including appearances at the 4A state tournament in 2016 and 2014, as well as regional berths in 2013 and 2015.
The Cougars return a number of key contributors next season, including Mackenzie Fidelak, who led the team with 331 kills, Zoe Gonzales (a team-high 95 blocks), and Ashley Bradbury (a team-best 319 digs).
Agho met her new team last week.
